I am going to blog twice in one day. So sue me.
I am going to blog about Bear. (don’t faint honey)
I like Bear. I don’t agree with him in most things. He is right, I am left. We are the perfect couple.
We are the yin and yang of life.
What Bear and I have in common.... is respect.
We respect the opposite opinion and realize the right to have that opinion. Because we understand that we are entitled to disagree.
We understand that democracy is based in this theory. He and I are the living proof that we can all get alone, together. Moth also falls into this equation.
Moth gets it.
In the end.. the middle ground may be the answer. The joining together of our thoughts and ideas. The very agreement to disagree and to continue the debate. The continuation of conversation. But in the end, at the end of the day, it is respect.
I respect Bear for many reasons. He is true to himself. He is steadfast. He is courageous. I don’t expect or demand that he always be right. He, hopefully, does not expect that from me.
If we can do this.. he and I... is there not hope for the future?
I do believe there is.
I will tell you this about Bear; if I need or want an ally, Bear will be at my side. He may not totally agree with my cause, but he will agree that I have a right to voice my cause.
And I will agree that he has a right to voice his cause. Respect.
We all need to learn that word, respect. It is more important than the word love. We must earn respect. We can’t buy it or steal it. It is earned through time and endurance. It is earned by truth and consistency. But, it is also earned through rational behavior.
Bear is the pot to my lid.
I like Bear. I don’t agree with him, for the most part. But, I respect him.
Can we not use this example to move forward?
Seems simple to me.
